Awani is a new, exquisite Asian food brand.

We are delighted to present to you the first in our range of exceptional products, a series of sumptuous tropical fruit jam and preserves.

These products have been inspired by the simplicity and beauty of the Balinese way of life.

We believe our business and our products represent the best of what we admire in Balinese tradition and culture. While we have modernised design and work practices, we also adhere respectfully to the essence of the Balinese way of life.

Our name, Awani, means earth in old Balinese. It comes from a language called Kawi that was spoken during the Majapahit Empire. The Majapahit ruled Java from the 13th to 15th century. They created an extraordinarily rich and beautiful culture and their influence spread to the island of Bali.)
In Bali, looking after nature is part of the balance of life. What is taken from the soil is offered to the gods and must then be returned to the earth.

Everywhere in Bali, you will see offerings to the gods. Hand-made offerings of palm leaves, a little rice and tiny flowers honour and give thanks for Bali’s abundance.

All around you is a way of living that seeks to balance the forces of good and evil spirits and to find tolerance and calmness in life.

The need to create balance and harmony permeates through religion, culture and work. Ceremonies, prayers and offerings are made to the gods every day to maintain this balance.
Logo
The name Awani reflects the Balinese reverence for the soil. We have created a logo that is a modernised form of calligraphy of the ancient Kawi script. Today, written Kawi is used mainly in literary works and is rarely spoken.

Poleng
A main feature in our design is the distinctive black and white cloth called “poleng”. It is ubiquitous in Bali, wrapped around statues, drums, trees, stones and even people.

Poleng represents balance in the world: white for good, black for evil. The interweaving of white and black thread signify that good cannot exist without evil.
